Gay and trans people will always, always be the canaries in the coal mine for fascism. We exist in every society, every culture, every nation, and we always will. We also will always be a small minority of any population we exist in. So we will always be available as a minority that can never be a majority ready made to be abused or scapegoated or used to drum up votes or drum up hatred.
